What to expect

  • Each session will consist of approximately 20-30 minutes of physical warm up, followed by approximately 20-30 minutes of relaxation, breath and vocal exploration.

  • If time permits, expect a few minutes for anyone to offer meaningful discoveries, feedback on the process, or questions about the work.

  • The physical work will be a blend of mild to moderate strength training, balance poses, and stretches.

  • The breath and voice work will be a blend of fundamentals and a cycle of varying explorations.

  • Cameras can be left on or turned off - whichever you're comfortable with.

  • Please mute your audio once we get started with the physical warmup.

What to bring

  • A piece of memorized text at least a minute in length (monologue, speech, poem, song lyrics, improvised catharsis of your own making).

  • Clothing you can move and stretch in (or something you might wear to yoga, pilates, dance, the gym, a hike, etc.)

  • A yoga mat, if working on a hard or stiff floor. Not necessary, but helpful.

What to consider

  • Work within your limits and goals without judgment of either. What you want and what you need will evolve class to class. Offer yourself space for both.

  • Physical and emotional safety are essential to the work. Avoid unproductive discomfort. Engage with productive discomfort at your own discretion. In other words, if it hurts, don't go like that. And, season with challenge, to taste.

  • It is best to work on a hard surface with space for a yoga mat (or stiff carpeting) and a few feet of extra space at either end of the mat. A yoga mat is not a deal breaker, but we will be lying down for some of the work, and a bed or couch will not be conducive.
